NorNet Core goes KVM

As part of last week’s updates of the NorNet Core software installation, most host machines are now running Linux’s Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), replacing the former VirtualBox installations. Unlike VirtualBox, which is an external software package requiring its own kernel modules, KVM is provided by the Linux kernel out of the box. This not only means a reduced maintenance effort, but also brings new possibilities for managing custom VMs. Particularly, this will become beneficial for research on distributed cloud computing systems.
