Svalbard site deployed

Today, the NorNet site at the Universitetet på Svalbard (UNIS) has been deployed in the city of Longyearbyen on the island of Spitsbergen. Spitsbergen is part of the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, constituting the northernmost part of Norway. UNIS is the world’s northernmost university, being located only about 1,200 km away from the North Pole. That is, the newly deployed NorNet core site provides network researchers insight into the network connectivity at one of the world’s most remote places!

Of course, the new NorNet site also includes the RIPE Atlas measurement node.
