abstract = "{Today, many applications running on our devices depend on network communication. The expectation of a user, as well as of the application developers, is that the network "somehow" transports the data between devices and remote systems, i.e. in particular reliably, without much delay, and almost everywhere when using a mobile device. But are these expectations realistic? How can the performance of the underlying networks be evaluated? How does the underlying network structure actually look like? And are there short-term and long-term changes? Obviously, there are many interesting research questions! The goal of this talk is to present an introduction and live demonstration of our open source framework High-Performance Connectivity Tracer (HiPerConTracer). HiPerConTracer can be utilised to perform short-term as well as long-term analysis of networks, scaling from small intranet setups to large-scale distributed environments, in order to obtain detailed insights into the structure and performance metrics (delay, jitter) of communication networks. As part of the live demonstration, it is particularly intended to show how the framework can be set up in own environments, and how to collect information about the networks used for own applications.}",
